Sabrina Sefton, BHSc

UBC Graduate (MSc) Student
Women+ and Children’s Health Sciences

Sabrina completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences, with a specialization in Child Health, at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. In her final year at McMaster, she studied the impact of exercise on cytokine pathways in children with various chronic inflammatory disorders. This, combined with a passion for child health, sparked her curiosity about the immunological basis of autoimmune disorders. As of September 2024, Sabrina will be pursuing a master’s degree in the Women+ and Children’s Health Sciences (WACH) program at UBC. Under the co-supervision of Dr. Kelly Brown and Dr. Kimberly Morishita (Rheumatology), her research will focus on improving the prognostic framework for pediatric-onset ANCA-associated vasculitis, a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by inflammation-mediated damage to small blood vessels and, for many children, associated kidney disease. When Sabrina is not in lab, she enjoys hiking, cooking, meeting new people, and thrifting!
